R&B Punk

R&B Punk (or Punk R&B) is a music genre which combines the sound of rhythm and blues (or contemporary R&B) with punk rock. Notable artists in this genre include The Outsiders,[1] Prince,[2] Downliners Sect,[3] The Rascals,[4][5] and the Frantic Elevators.[6] It can be very similar in sound to 1960's garage rock, freakbeat, pop punk, mod revivalist bands, punk blues or a harder, faster version of artists like Andre Williams. Anarcho punk band Nation of Ulysses incorporated elements of 1970's soul, 1950's doo-wop, and avant-jazz into high energy hardcore punk with a radical marxist ideology that bordered on anarchism.
