IceSheffield

iceSheffield is an ice arena in the Lower Don Valley, Sheffield, England. It was completed in May 2003 at a cost of £15 million. It consists of two Olympic-size ice rinks with seating for 1,500 people. It is now home to most ice hockey teams in Sheffield with the exception being the Sheffield Steelers, who are still based at nearby Sheffield Arena, though the venue has hosted a number of Steelers games in recent seasons. Peak time cost is £5.50 per person, excluding skate hire, which is charged at an additional £1.60. Wednesday night (CheapSkate night) remains ever popular, the cost now being £3 for 2 and a half hours skating, again without skate hire though. GFI (Go Fast It's) Friday is one the most expensive nights, charged at the peak rate of £5.50. Wednesday night, Friday night, Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon are all sessions with a live DJ, other sessions have music played from one of the music channels, while the video is shown on the 9'-screen "Video Wall". Friday nights often host either races or speed skating, where competent skaters have the rink to themselves for a small period of time.

The venue is managed by Sheffield International Venues on behalf of the Sheffield City Trust
