Alo (Wallis and Futuna)



Alo, also known unofficially as Tu`a, is one of the three official chiefdoms of the French territory of Wallis and Futuna, which encompasses the eastern two thirds (53 km² out of 83 km²) of Futuna Island, and mostly uninhabited Alofi Island (32 km², pop. 2) 2 km to the southeast. The total area of the chiefdom is 85 km², with a population of 2993, in nine villages, as of the census of July 22, 2003. The capital is the village of Mala'e (pop. 238). The largest village is Ono (pop. 738).
